OT: Kenzie

I got the new Mystery Squad Kenzie at TRU. I am so impressed. The only modern Barbie that I have bought since the first year of the Gen. Girl dolls was a Silkstone. This doll has such a funky style. It seems like her hair gets bigger every time I look at her, I love it! This line sort of replaces the Generation Girl line and if you'll look at the dolls they do sort of bear resemblance to the Gen. Girls. AND Kenzie's jacket is actually tagged Generation Girl. Hmmm ... If you have a TRU then you should check this doll out. OR you could go to eBay (I listed my second one there). These dolls are $20.00 retail but worth it. Hi all, Well you all remember that the new Charice dolls HEADS were put onto old Candi Bodies or even the transisitonal ones, so that may be a factor into where those mysterious stains came from! ttys Kevin

Hi, Does anyone know if the Oxy10 will work on the vinyl of any doll? Or shoes? My 2 year old daughter got hold of a pen and wrote on her shoes and a baby doll's face! Also on the iron-on decal part of a cute t-shirt! I tried kitchen spray products, but hasn't come off any of these things yet! Laundry stain solutions don't work on the t-shirt iron-on either! Stained dolls??

Hi All, I got a Christmas baggie from PD and it has dark marks on it's arm in a couple places! I tried to take it off with comet cleanser and a "scrubby" but if wouldn't come off. I know about earrings turning green, etc. but this is new to me. Anyone have any ideas on what this is or if it is capable of coming off? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much, Karla

I love sales like this for the same reason. There are several projects that I like to donate to, for Christmas gifts especially. This makes it much easier to be able to give a nicer doll than might normally be feasable. I was so sorry to read about your problems, and will keep you in my prayers and send loads of healing energy your way. I had a similiar thing happen about 16 months ago, it turned out that it was not Bell's Palsey, I was bit on the face by a spider, tiny bite, then came the high fever, for 8 days, the facial parlysis with drooping lip, and when I woke up one morning and could barely walk, I decided it was time to get to the doctor. Doctor said it was Bell's Palsey, then in discussion with him, and showing him the tiny spot on my face, he agreed with me that it could be the spider bite. I was fortunate becasue I had not taken antibotics for 30 years, so the Doctor put me on mega doses of antibotics and after 3 weeks I was back to normal. I usually do not post things on the board, but felt that this may help someone else in the future. I live on top of a mountain, surrounded by trees, and in 22 years of living here, I have become immune to most bites, however the brown recluse spiders have become very bad in Pa. HI all, Sorry for this cross posting but I just wanted to update you all on whats going on with me and to THANK all the many people that wrote such kind notes to me, they were and are MUCh appreciated. Well as in my earlier post this week, I went in on Tuesday morning and had the MRI done and because my new doctor was concerned I had had a strke maybe because of the partial facial paralysis I am having and the pain in my right leg. WELL folks I found out it is NOT a stroke but I do have the BELLS Palsey and also a massive viral infection running thru my body which is what caused most of the nerve damage and triggered the BELLs palsey. Now what makes this even a little more serious than it should be is because of my Hiv status and this will compromise my immune system even more than normal, BUT thank god that I have been living with that now for almost 17 years and all my counts are normal almost so I shouldnt be in too much trouble in that area. NOW comes the fun part, My doctor said I should under take therapy to TRY and restore se of the facial movement on the right side and I am gonna use some of the exercises that they have been using for mother in the nursing home for her speech therapy, the director of mothers therapy said those exercises were as good as most of them for what my doctor wants me to do. SO for me things will be SLOW going for awhile but they will be moving FORWARD and Brent and I and my family are trying to maintain a healthy outlook for 2003 which is just around the corner now. I MOST definently plan to continue my doll work albeit at a little slower pace, so to those I have my swaps and who I have to get dolls done for the Convention next august and then want to try and get my entry done for a winter contest thats coming up soon. SO my dear friends I apologise for the length of this post and I want to thank all of you dear people for being here to listen to my troubles. THANK YOU ALL!! TTYS Kevin

FashionDoll Scene, Weekly Feature ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weekly Feature by Sonia Rivera Geta View from the top of the shoe, with thread placement indicate by dots. After tracing the bottom of the doll's foot, draw a line across the bottom. The finished drawing should look similar to this. After threading the needle to the half-way point of the thread, run it through the base. After the thread has been run through the sole, thread on a bead, cut the needle off and tie a knot in the end. Japanese shoes or "geta", which are traditionally worn with the Kimono, are really quite easy to make. The shoes have a simple paddle-like design with only a V-strap holding them on. Most of the items needed to make the shoes are things you probably already have on hand. Materials: Molding clay such as Fimo or Sculpey Matching embroidery floss (approx. 8" long) Beads Large sewing needle Begin by choosing the doll for which you will be making the shoes. Lay the doll on its side and trace the bottom curve of the foot onto a piece of paper. Now lay a ruler even with the flat (toe) part of the foot and draw a line all the way back to the heel. This will give you the curve you need to support the doll. Once your tracing is done, begin with an amount of the sculpting clay. Shape it first into the paddle-shape you want the shoe to have, the build up the bottom until it matches your drawing. With the large sewing needle threaded to the center of the embroidery floss, run the needle through the shoe base, approximately where the middle toe will sit. Do not pull the floss all the way through. Instead thread on a bead, cut off the needle and tie a knot large enough to keep the thread from falling back through the bead. Now take the ends of the floss, which should still be on the top of the shoe, and thread one of them onto the needle. Run the needle down the side of the shoe, approximately to the back part of the instep. Thread on a bead and tie off, just as before. Repeat for outside thread. Once the beads are in place, press them into the bottom of the shoe. Cover with a small amount of the clay, so that the beads are not visible. Wet the embroidery floss and then place in oven at temperature and times recommended on sculpting clay package.
