Actually, I do not like Colin's outfit at all. It is hard for me to appreciate the style because for such an expensive outfit I like to have details that show true skill (i.e. beautifully fitted garments, tailoring, etc). The best part is the built in corselette which laces in the back. I think it they should have done an empire waisted bodice but fitted with princess seams instead of just using a strip of fabric with a bow around it. I plan on making her a suit but I have been very busy working on 11.5" fashion doll clothing lately (in addition to everything else). You all will be seeing a few of my doll designs very soon and I have plans for a lot more too! Randall

HI All, Aria is part of the ICONS line Integrity is putting out, that includes, Aria/ALYSA, Aria is ALYSA with caucasian skin tone, JANAY, SOOKIE and TARIQ, there will be 4 dolls in the line initially with more to be added later, THey feature new arm molds that are jointed at the wrist and elbow, They will have the regular legmolds and body molds. Hi Pat, I, myself, have always liked the jointed dolls. I don't have my A&V dolls yet so I can't comment on them but I do have a CED Colin (love her BTW), the jointing is reminiscent of the vintage Dollikins. The new Alex doll will apparently have lots of joints too, even the ankles and toes I believe. I'm not that fond of Alex but the joints sound very appealing. I would love to see a modern Barbie sized doll with joints like the CED dolls. I even prefer the Barbie dolls with the jointed knees rather than the bend knees but I don't like the hands that they use on many of them so I prefer the jointed knees on the newer style body (w/o twist waist) or I use the other body and replace the lower part of the arms with the ballerina hands.

Dear CandiChatters, I apologize for sounding ignorant about this question, but in a recent ad I saw for Veronique and Adele, have the dolls always had jointing or is this new? If the jointing is new, have any of you got these dolls and what do you think of upscale fashion dolls with more articulation? As some of you may recall, I was very excited about the CED dolls that were created by Doug James and Laura Meisner. I completely believed that with their pursuit of designing dolls with more flexibility, there would be something of a revolution in fashion doll manufacturing. Are you seeing a new trend towards jointing in fashion dolls or am I just overly optimistic? Since I don't collect many dolls anymore, except ones with jointing--the more movement the merrier--I'm interested in whether my perceived belief there is a trend in jointing fashion dolls is here to stay. To my way of thinking, over the past few years, starting with the Simply Genes, then Madra, jointing started to become a feature of dolls. Are the Tonner Models jointed, too? How many other current fashion dolls, aside from Barbie, have multiple jointing? Hope to read some interesting discussion. Regards, Pat Brown

Which Barbie is she?

Hi, fellow doll fanatics. I need help identifying a Barbie. I've never been to concerned about who my distressed girls are, I just buy them as I run across them in thrift shops and used clothing stores. My daughter, Leanne, and I give them a make-over, add some to her collection and see the rest get a good home. Anyway, this doll has us stumped. She says Mattel 1993 on her back. She has jointed elbows and knees, a twisty waist, no ankle or wrist movement. She has bleached blond hair with lifgt pink streaks through it. The hair goes down to her waist. She is not an easy girl to dress. She is in excellant condition, except for her hair, which I think I'm going to have to braid. HI All, Well I am back from what will be my first trip to the doctors, My surgery was rescheduled for April 11th, so I will ba back online for about 2 weeks and then will most likely be back offline for about a week or so, I guss the surgery is a litle more involved than I had thought at first so that was one of the reasons for having to chedule it at another time, I will be in the hospital for one day maybe two, so things are a little more involved as I said, They have to knock me out for it, which I was not anticipating. BUT I will be bac up and runnig at 100% SOON, and am gonna be SOOOOOOO glad when this crap is finally over. Well enough of my rambling and GLAD to be back with you all for now. TTYS my friends! OT: Shakira

I'm really not spending any money on dolls BUT I have been holding on to a KB gift card since Christmas so I did get myself a new doll yesterday. I just bought the Shakira doll by Mattel. I don't know what possessed my to buy her ... exept I don't think I've ever seen a 10.99 Mattel doll dressed in black. She's kind of cute, I'm sure I'll play with her for a while and then pass her along to her next owner ... which is what I usually tend do with newer Barbies. LOL I do like her top though. That was the web site that I was going to send the link too. You got to it before I did. Although I think the FA line is nice considering it is for Mattel playline, there is way too much glitter for me, too much pink, and too many cheap fabrics. I would like to see more natural colors, that is one reason that I liked the My Scene fashions. I finally saw Mezanine Mink a year ago. There's a TRU in south Miami that seems to have a lot of old fashions but I decided to pass on it. Randall

OR: venting about Silkstone Barbie troubles

If I remember correctly a couple of you collect Silkstones. I just got my A Model Life giftset this morning and I wanted to post some comments to the list. I started out by just deboxing the doll and immediately found three big snags in her hose. I was very put off by this so I called Mattel. Basically I was told that since she is such a high end doll they do not have any replacement parts. She offered to give me a $10 gift certificate that could be used at major chain stores like KMart, Target, etc. Since I try not to buy Barbie dolls from such places I was not happy with this offer. Before getting off the phone and being very upset I asked her if she could offer anything else to try and make amends. She said I could return the doll and they would refund the purchase price. This usually takes quite a while though. I told her I would have to think about it and decide what I wanted to do. Then I discovered that she was missing a setting in her right earring ... then I deboxed the rest of the items and found more problems. The ruffles on the blouse are not even hemmed and they look as though they're on the verge of raveling. There's no way I would attempt to put them through the sleeves of the jacket, I'm sure it would destroy them. Included in this set are several model com cards with a book to put them in. Cute idea but they had tape across the back of all of them so that they would display well in the box. Of course, after I removed the tape sticky residue was all over the backs and they stuck together. The belt with this set looks great but is really non-functional. There is a tiny s-hook but it was completely closed and was VERY difficult to open even with needle nose pliers. The suggested retail for this set is $100. I have been satisfied with all of my other silkstone items but I think that they should have done a much better job with this one. I am going to call Mattel again tomorrow and see what I can work out for a replacement. Oh, and on a similar note I am scared to put Continental Holiday's coat on for feat of breaking her thumb. Have any of you had trouble with this? Randall
