Hey, Melissa. Good holiday cheer to all you other
familiar and newer Chatters. Yes it is unfortunate that this magazine is
having to fold. I, however, have not taken a subscription to a doll
magazine for almost 2 years, given that collecting dolls is all-consuming and
takes up a lot of space. I've got so many klunky dolls to liquidate that
I'm dreading the process of the selling. But it has to be done before I'll
commit to any serious re-collecting.
Having said that, I have needed to purchase a few recent doll
magazines because I wanted to read up on what Madame Alexander has been doing
with its ultra limited Cissy line. Couldn't find "Dolls" or "Doll Reader"
except at Borders' magazine section. "Barbie Bazaar" I once could
find at Waldenbooks, but no more, and it was only at Borders.
"Contemporary Doll" was the one other doll magazine I saw at Borders. I
remember when it read like a high-falutin' collector magazine, but I think
its toned down the high-brow . Maybe I was too late for the current issues
of other magazines. Geesh, it's a grueling business to be in
publishing. Regards, Pat

Hi, Pat!
Glad to see you are still here. The letter I got said it was
due to health matters that she decided to stop publishing. Don't know any more
than that...
Melissa
Was there any particular reason(s) for the ceasing of
publication other than the obvious--it's all consuming and not the least
lucrative to publish a doll magazine? Yes, I'm still
around--lurking. Regards, pat Brown
Hi, all!
Happy holidays to each & every one! Just a couple
little bits of dollie news. Vicky will no longer be publishing Dolls In
Print. Looks like the last issue was the Winter one. Those with
subscriptions are getting pro-rated refunds. Sigh! Another good doll
magazine "down the tubes"... There are some nice new 11 1/2" and 15 1/2"
doll patterns out from Simplicity & Jo-Ann is having a $1.99 sale on
Simplicity patterns through the end of the month, I believe. There is even
a picture of Charice wearing one of the 90's outfits in the latest
Simplicity catalog. Just thought you might be interested.
