Subject: PayPal, Candy, Videos:)I really enjoy my PayPal account. However, I don't have a business PayPal account so I can't accept credit cards. Since I do not have a business account, I do not have to pay fees. Of course I only sell my personal collection. I have to recycle my doll $ to be able to get new ones.BTW I just won a Candy doll. She is from the days when Candi was spelled with a "y" instead of an "i". She is really cute. I am going to put up pictures of her later. She looks nothing like the Candis we have now. But she's still cute. I also, have a video tape of when Candy was being advertised back in, I think, 1995 or so. Does anyone have an idea what that would be worth, if anything?Well, hope all of you are doing well.Best wishes,Sherrie:)I have to go give my kitty some medicine.-----Original Message-----

Subject: OT: eBay's PayPal--Pat's RantBottom line: if I use PayPal I have to pay more fees on top of what I have to pay eBay. Or either I pass the fees on to a buyer. Which, I suppose, is the price a buyer pays for that immediate gratification ( I get my immediate gratification when I submit a bid--even if I don't win the auction. Guessing what the winning bid is going to be is fun for me. I get a real bang out of seeing final values on auctions where I'm bidding). But if I buyer has to pay 90 cents, at minimum for a postal money order plus the cost of the stamp and an envelope, I guess it stands to reason they could pay me for the privilege of my providing PayPal. There are certainly the pros and cons of implementing PayPal. If I decide that my everyday lifestyle is going to be about using eBay to liquidate my collection more thoroughly, then the expediency of PayPal to me may become very appealing. But I just hate having to get involved with one more party in the business of my selling off my stuff. I love capitalism, but my auctions do not fetch huge profits--if any. And if I get involved with adding PayPal as a feature to my auctions, then small-ticket items are more of an aggravation for me to list. And even small-ticket items may have some worth to a doll collector.I use PayPal to pay for auctions I win. But you know what? I always feel a twinge of remorse, or guilt or some odd misery when I use PayPal. I don't know why--it's a feeling I can't begin to articulate. But as long as a seller offers the feature, I take advantage of it because the seller clearly has offered the choice because he wants to get paid quickly and get the stuff out fast, too. Why would I bother dawdling with paying a person when they've gone to the trouble and expense of including PayPal in their auction? Seems like an insult to that seller if I don't pay him immediately using PayPal.When I consider bidding on an auction I don't care if PayPal is offered. I'm always taken aback when I read auctions that say they ONLY do PayPal. But to each his own. Money is money. Oh, yes, there's one other consideration I would make for PayPal that I just learned this weekend. I understand that there has been concern over counterfeit money orders and cashier's checks and PayPal almost eliminates this possibility. Someone told me this weekend that they had heard that is why PayPal was created because of this counterfeit problem that I guess was at its worst about 3 years ago. I don't know if this is true.Okay, so call me crazy. I'll probably enter the 21st century and PayPal begrudgingly, but I'll get there. But I won't do it willingly. Do I sound like an old, crusty senior citizen? Cuz I haven't mentioned lately I'll never grow old! pat Brown----- Original Message -----From: RobinSent: Sunday, January 04, 2004 6:02 PMSubject: Re: eBay monikersHi, Pat:(I owe you an email from before the holidays, will get to it as I settle down into life again).Do you have a specific concern about PayPal? For what it's worth, I've avoided auctions that I would otherwise have been interested in but for the seller's lack of PayPal. I've bought a lot from eBay and truly appreciate a fast transaction. I have 100% positive feedback because I pay usually within minutes or hours of winning an auction, and I expect the seller to ship within 24 hours. I know... I'm fussy, but I like instant gratification and PayPal speeds things up. I always email the seller to confirm everything and appreciate the courtesy of an email from them.So far, I only buy under my ID but I have sold under my husband's ID so I have had experience with PayPal buying and selling and I've never had a problem. Once I paid twice, lol (talk about eager!), but the seller refunded my second payment, so even that worked out okay. I am going to selling under my ID soon (I have a mint Sheer Glamour Sydney that seems to be hot right now) and I'll be using PayPal. Anyway, I was just wondering why you do not care for PayPal.BestRobin-----Original Message-----

Subject: Re: eBay monikersHi, all. Given that many of us are currently or going to be selling on eBay, would there be any benefit to us knowing who each other's user i.d.s are? I think this List posted user i.d.s moons ago, and I don't know if it did any of us any good to know who each of us were on eBay. Any way, just a question. But for any one's interest, if you come across opinionated as a user i.d., that's me. I'm trying to do more selling, but gadzooks! the prices have to be so cheap. And while I'm pondering getting involved with the dreaded PayPal, I still conduct auctions the old-fashioned way: I follow the closings and I send out my own emails and I take personal checks. I may think that be interactive with bidders makes for a more fun transaction, but so far I've discovered that my idea of fun does not conform with the current trend for little to no contact and being able to pay automatically. Bleah! I'm old and crabby and very opinionated!
