Well, I for one am never bored by what Kathy has to share with the Chat. It's an amazing thing to me, that there are those of us who've been on this list as long ago to remember when Grayson was a blip on a sonogram. And while he may not like dolls, I am certain that he benefits from the creative expression his mother enjoys from her dolls. A child learning passion and enthusiasm for something from an adult is never a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with a snow shoveling--more kids should do it--and rake leaves.
Onto the discussion of dolls: remind me, what is a Candi Basic? I don't remember any redhead except for the one I've got now, the redhead MiKelman from Christmas long ago. Shoot, I've forgotten a lot of the specifics about Candi dolls. Did you say that Veronique and Adele are the same size as old-fashioned Candis? I've never seen a Veronique or Adele in person.
Love the mermaid--Li'l Kim will be chompin' at the bit for a set of mermaid pasties like those. Do you ever take pictures of a project from the beginning to the end? When you decided to do this doll, did you already have a plan for a mermaid or did you find the doll with the tail and get the idea for this project? Do you start your designs out as a drawing or do you use the doll as your sketch pad? As for the mermaid: is the lower body soft and poseable with a wire that runs throught the tail or are the legs jointed and are the feet high-heeled? Please tell me as I am always looking for these poseable bodies. Or is the lower body painted to look like a tail and the fabric tail is put over the legs? Do you think you'll develop a line of mermaids or is this definitely the only?
Now my final question: are you or anyone on this list familiar with a line of Horse Riding Barbies that came out in 2000? I missed this doll and think I see auctions for it on eBay but I won't bid because I don't know what the body is like. Would anyone here know? Also, I understand that there's a new Horse Riding Barbie, but am I to conclude it will have that "teen" body that I don't like? I'm still looking for big-busted Barbies.
Thanks for taking the time to take pictures, Kathy. I very much enjoyed them. Regards, pat Brown ----- Original Message ----- From: "mroczko" mroczko@verinet.com To: candichat@dolls.de Sent: Saturday, December 06, 2003 7:51 AM Subject: Time for Pictures!!
Hi All, I am about to innundate you with some new pics, so grab a cup of
coffee
and enjoy. lOL
First off, since no one else has posted, here is a picture of the
Candichat
Fashion. It is being modeled by my red head Candi Basic.

Here is a close up, so you can see how nicely it is made.

Veronique really wanted to wear it, but she was busy attempting to get the Broncos back on a winning streak.

They played so badly ( even thought they won) that she was disgusted and snatched up this sheath that I just finished. These are made with a pattern that is an exact duplicate of the vintage one, and I use vintage fabric, and they come out so cute.

Let me know if anyone is interested in these, as I can custom make them
for
a reasonable price.
Next up is my mermaid that I FINALLY finished after months of sewing sequinns to that stupid tail. The tail is the regular one from the playline mermaids, so she is posable. NOT making amy more of these. LOL

Last, but not least are these pics of Grayson. I have decided that I am the worst mother in the world, as these were taken from inside as I sat in the chair with a hot cup of coffee. Just report me to child services now, as I make my four year old shovel snow. LOL I never argue with him when he wants to go outside and burn some energy on a cold snowy day. Hate being cooped up with a rampaging kid.

That's ok, as he got me back a couple of days ago. I had just
recieved
a Billy Boy Feelin Groovy Barbie doll that I had wanted for a very long time. I had taken her out of the box, and was basically doing the happy dance around the kitchen, when I heard from the other room, "Relax mom, it's just a doll!" I about fell over laughing, but I now know I have lost him completely, and he is all his daddy's son.
Well, surely I have bored you enough for now. It is supposed to be a
nice day today, so we will be attempting to do some work on the house, quick before it snows again. ( the snow pics of Grayson were a couple of weeks ago) Hope everyone has a great weekend.
