Hi, Karla! These were some of the first Mikelman association Candis. He did the face paint for these. Helena had been doing Candi on her own before that using strictly the AA head mold even as Caucasian dolls. There is a great article in an EARLY Barbie Bazaar magazine that tells about that era. Of course, my copies are in storage at the moment. *Pat, can you find yours?* Thanks. Melissa
Now I am curious also. I have been collecting Candis about three years. When I started I got a Hispanic one dressed in a short, tight black dress with the Candy written on the dress. There were some other exact ones
that
came in white. Also at the same time there was the China Candi in the
blue
high collar dress. We these the beginning??

Hi, June & all! I have 2 pre-Mikelman Candi dolls. One is the "Black Cat-Suit" one that
you
can see on Suzanne's In Stock Candi page. The other I bought off ebay a while ago. It is the same headmold & bent arms like above & I think the
hair
is up. She is dressed in a black chiffon gown. I can't do pictures as
she
is
in storage & I don't know how to do it online anyway. I would love to
have
one called "Polka Dots & Roses" that Anja has one her early Candis page. Melissa
Hello everyone,
I was wondering how many of you have pre-mikelman candi's? If you do,
would you
consider sending pictures or web site addresses where you dolls can be viewed? I've not seen any
of
the
older candi's for ages on ebay and I've been really curious about all the varieties that were originally made. I
have
three I
think , but they are packed away at this time.
Thanks
June Narber
