Hi Pat
Thank you for the compliments on my site. It was fun creating it. LOL
I've always been a de-boxer from the start to be honest. I did not discover doll groups on the net until at least 6 or so months into collecting - and when I did, that is where I learned that Barbies can lose their value with de-boxing and for some de-boxing is quite an issue. Some people buy 2 of a doll so they can keep on boxed.
I'm not sure how I can talk you into trying de-boxing a doll. A few dolls I've kept boxed for ages and then suddenly it 'feels right' for me to de-box so I do and haven't regretted it. That happened with my blonde lingerie silkstone. Some of my collectibles I do keep boxed as I don't intend to use them for re-dressing and some of them just look so good in their boxes.
I have a display cabinet where I keep my larger dolls and silkstones and a couple of de-boxed collectibles safe. I've got a bit of space in my wall unit where I display a few playline Barbies - usually my skippers and friends and my Candis and other playline Barbies I display on my dressing table in the bedroom. When we're at work the bedroom door is closed to keep them cat proof. LOL.
A few boxes I have kept in case I did sell a doll or becuase the box has a nice background that I could use for taking pics but as I live in a unit/flat space is minimal so where I can I throw the boxes away.
Well hope some of this helps. And let us know if you de-box. Also, do you still have that Striking Gold Gene outfit for sale?
