Hi again, Randall,
Thanks for clarifying that. I love the BB body. I like the smaller bust, the belly button and slim hips; even the butt has a nice curve (I'm so jealous!). The dress on the Bond doll was sewn on. Grrrrrr..... I cut it off carefully and will sew some snaps on. It is a beautiful dress. I also dislike the way Mattel doesn't make the jewelry removable. Still, I agree with you, they are doing some nice stuff. The male Bond doll is gorgeous, and Tango Ken would have me panting if I was Barbie. Tango Barbie was a pleasant surprise, very appealing, despite the rose in the mouth being permanent. Still, I can use her in my dioramas because she has a fully articulated body and I can pose her. I dont collect Silkies because of the need to limit my rapacious doll appetite, but I have bought a few things and would like to have the lingerie doll. I am rethinking my decision about South African Princess. I think shes a winner. I saunter back over to the doll store tomorrow. Darn, there goes my good resolutions! Hee hee. What is "In the Pink" that you refer to? Thanks. Robin Choic4guys@aol.com wrote:Hi Robin,
The new body (I think Barbie collectors are using the term BB or belly button body) does not have the waist joint, it is usually used with the new arms which have a couple of separated fingers. This is my favorite of all the Barbie bodies. I think it is so much more realistic than the previous bodies. I have never liked the fit of modern Barbie clothing because, let's face it, something has to be heavily tailored to fit that large of a bust and that tiny of a waistline. The newer body works so much better, IMO.
The Shani body appears much like the regular, older style of Barbie body that twists at the waist but the Shani body is slightly slimmer.
I love the dress on the Bond doll. Is it removeable? I hate how Mattel sews things on. I have been very "anti-Mattel" for years but I am coming around. I thought Mattel was making a great turnaround with the Silkstone line being so limited but then I heard about "In The Pink" at The Toy Shop for $40something. I don't have much faith in them yet but I will admit I have bought a few things in the last year.
