Hi, all! I found Kathy's FA for Ken at WalMart today. The pants are really nice & I like the sweater, too. Now to get Ken as Rhett out of storage so I can dress him up.
I also found my first new Integrity dolls on the shelves at Walmart. They had 2 Embassy Ball Janays-beautiful & very ethnic with her flocked hair at $6.97. (Didn't buy that one as Suzanne is holding one for me.) But, I did buy one of the new Janay face-Global Peace Janay. Gorgeous face & great shorts, kind of like the Paleontologist Barbie's neat outfit. The Global Peace Alysa didn't do much for me; neither did the Janay with the animal. But, I am now getting excited about all the other ones I DID order from Suzanne. Can't wait 'til they all get here... Melissa
WOW, the hunt is ON! The dolls sound VERY exciting, can you post any pictures? Are they packaged like last year's dolls? I have to start looking for them!!

How big is Barbie & Candi & such as Tyler Wentworth & Gene 'over there' in Australia & how available? Do you have any sort of discount stores such as our Walmarts? Where do you buy your dollies? You have doll shows a lot don't you? Can you just get CAndi thru the mail? I heard doll Collecting is big in your neck of the woods, but is it more so of the porcelein type dolls? Pat Hawkins
Hi Pat
I would say that doll collecting is pretty popular in Australia, but IMO I think it is more those porcelain type dolls as we have a few magazines that feature these dolls. There is an Australian Barbie Club which I recently joined so Barbie and other doll collecting is popular as well but as to availability....well that's another story! LOL. We get some of the playline Barbies and FA's but not all, and mostly just plain old blonde Barbie and maybe redheads and brunettes but AA or other exotic ones are pretty non-existent - though this year they did actually stock Palm Beach Lea and Midge and that's a first. You can get them at stores like Kmart, TRU, Target and Big W. Some of these larger stores such as Kmart may stock some collectible Barbies but overall, they are extremely slow to even bother providing new dolls and FA's so usually, you gotta rely on getting them elsewhere.
Even Australian dealers don't have much by way of playline Barbies but you can get collectibles from them though sometimes it is cheaper to get them direct from overseas. I don't know of any dealer in Australia who sells Candi and one does sell Tyler...but generally these other dolls we have to get from overseas. We pretty much have to rely in pics only when you wanna buy a doll, which is why I like it when I can get to see actual pics of a doll from someone who has got one, cos particularly in Barbie's case they often differ from the promo pics.
I've got a new addiction now though....Bratz dolls! LOL. I bought 2 yesterday - Jade and Sasha and I gotta get more! LOL

Hi Lunar,
I am in pretty much the same boat as you as far as dolls go. I rely on pics as well and buy most of my dolls online from dealers and e-Bay auctions.
I rarely make it out of town to get to the big chain stores like Toys R Us, Walmart, etc....and the last time I did there was NOT ONE SINGLE AA Barbie there...this was at WALMART!! I was shocked (and a bit p'd off!)
NOW...these Bratz dolls ARE lovely, aren't they?
I got Emma the first Jade and Jasmine dolls. Now they have a New 5th girl: Meygan(sp?) she looks gorgeous in the promo pics, and also they have two boys, but I have yet to see pictures of them. Have you? I asked in CustomDolls if someone had pics, if they would post...but I guess no one did. I would still be keen to see what they look like.
Talk to you soon,
Elizabeth
P.S. Something coming for you in the mail this week...:) --- Lunar lunarwolfess@yahoo.com.au wrote:

Elizabeth,
I can't believe Walmart didn't have any AA Barbies. It seems to me that they have about 50/50 usually??
Who is Emma - is this a fashion doll and how big is she? I don't know anything about her. I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi all,
I had a GREAT Candi day! I went to Walmart and there was Embassy Ball Janay (I love her) and I also got Alejandro who I didn't even know about and I also got the FA Ken outfit. It was the last one!! I was so thrilled I could hardly contain myself LOL. Then when I got home there was a big box from Paul David. I just received an order last week - I can't even remember what I got - some new- now I remember, I got the In that package I also got the International Hispanic in the silver dress - she is beautiful! I can't remember what else I ordered (I have already put them downstairs in my "doll world") so I can't remember what else I got. I just remembered that I did get three of the cover girl collection - their dresses are so full you wouldn't believe it. I love full-skirted outfits. I wasn't real happy with the package I got yesterday as there were a few misunderstandings and I ended up with an Retro with ORANGE hair and then I wanted one of the old Santa Baby dolls but I just said "the Christmas doll" and I ended up getting the 96 doll as a baggie!!! Joyce, who works at Paul David's is so very nice - I had just given the wrong info. Anyway, to the good stuff I got 5th Avenue Fortuny - SHE IS GORGEOUS - I got her from Paul David for $19.99! I got some vintage swirls and some outfits that were on sale.
I just placed my first order with Suzanne - she is absolutely wonderful. I ordered Feline Formality and Suttle Elegance from her and an Embassy Ball Janay (Now I'll have two) which is totally fine with me. I can't wait for Suzanne's package to arrive. I can't wait to see Feline Formality. In the end I am always happy with my Candis.
p.s. Please forgive any typos - I haven't typed in over a year - thanks.
Take care, Karla

Hi Karla,
WHOLLY!!!!!! You hit the mother-load this week! WOW!!!!! You must be so excited!?!
I finally received all 4 of the Candi Cover Girls this year as well...may be later than most of the collectors here, but we both got great deals, didn't we?! They ARE GORGEOUS and their fashions are WONDERFUL! All those snaps, silk, satin and tulle...I love it!!! :)
It was really great to read your e-mail, you can tell just how ecstatic you are in it! (big smile)
I finally got an Asian "Holiday Toast" Candi, recently...I immediately undressed her and put her in a gorgeous red satin skirt and black brocade kimono that I bought on e-Bay...she looks FABULOUS! It was hard to capture on film, but here is a link to her picture if you would like to see her:
http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/dolls4emma/blackkimono.jpg
(*If you rest your cursor on the picture for a moment, a square will pop up in the bottom right corner...click on it, and the picture will enlarge to it's real size).
You ordered a lot from Paul David...geeze, at his prices you really can't go wrong, huh? I wish I lived closer to there...I would LOVE to go shopping in his store and pick up a ton of the old Neauveaux (sp?) Charice dolls, some fashions and some Candis....
Are you able to post pictures? I would love to see the dolls you ordered from Suzanne when they arrive!
I think Feline Formality is GORGEOUS...that one stuck out right from the beginning...a blonde Asian doll, wow!
Enjoy your loot! :)

I can't believe how gorgeous your Holiday Toast came out!! She is a whole different "person." Who actually made that outfit - was it someone selling doll clothes on e-bay. I do not like this doll at all - I don't what it is about her and its very strange for me not to like a Candi, etc. LOL. Yours is stunning! I thought of putting mine in something else but I don't know what yet. Your choice of the oriental outfit was Great!

Hi Karla,
Thanks! I am SOOOO happy I redressed her in this outfit, and I knew as soon as the I received the outfit that it was 'meant' for her!
I bought a few on auction in e-Bay from the seller ID: rhaynedragon Her name is Sue, and she is an excellent sewer, and a really nice woman.

Elizabeth,
Seems like we have a lot of things in common regarding the Candi Cover Girls! We absolutely did get a great deal! I took Raven Red Roses out the box as soon as I got her and could not believe how full the dress was!! After being in that small box the dress just flew up into a "full round" circle. I put her on my TV where I can just sit and look at the gorgeous dress and you are really on target about all the tulle under the dress. I havn't taken Violets & Mints or White Blossoms in Bloom yet - I want to save some fun and excitement for other days LOL. I ordered the one purple with the red hair (I can't remember her name) but PD did not have her so I am getting it from Suzanne. I can't wait to see the lavendar with Red Hair!!
Also, I too would love to go PD's store. And then he has those sales - I can only imagine the great bargains we are missing, darn it.
