Hello Lunar,
Thanks for the compliment, I will pass it on to Brenda (my step-mother) because she is thinking of designing clothes for Gene...and I want her to make Candi clothing, 'cos there are plenty of talented people making Gene stuff and no one on e-Bay designing strictly for Candi! I am going to try and talk her into making more for Candi. If this set does well, she might...(fingers crossed).
She said that whatever she makes, she will make a pattern of it and give it to me!!! <--great, huh??!!
Oh...we didn't watch anything special last night, "The Exorcist III". We don't have TV (cable) and so we always rent a lot of older movies (really cheap): 5 movies, for 5 days, for $5.00 <--good deal.

I wish I could bid on that outfit but I'm beyond broke at the moment. LOL. But fingers crossed she will do some more outfits for Candi too.

My gosh, what an excellent value for the price! The gown is luscious. Please keep us informed how the auction ends. Thanks Pat, I will!
I am also going to let Brenda (my step-mother) know about everyone's comments--hopefully this will inspire her to make more instead of switching to Gene, hehe...
Take care, Elizabeth

Well, the thing with Gene is that her size makes sewing easier. Not to mention more space on her face to repaint. By the way, does she like to do repaints or is that you? And to those of you on the List who do makeovers for 11.5" dolls and larger, do you go to ebay and buy dolls for makeover purposes or do you go to the store and buy them new from the box? I'm asking because now that Gene has moveable arms and legs, do the older dolls with no bending knees and elbows sell for the purpose of makeovers or do collectors still buy Genes for their collections? ----- Original Message ----- From: Elizabeth biz000art@yahoo.com To: nqsqurtz@staffnet.com; candichat@dolls.de Sent: Saturday, January 26, 2002 2:14 PM Subject: Re: OOPS...sorry, here's the link:

True, I find it so much easier to design for Gene than for the smaller dolls.
My step-mother doesn't do any repainting, she actually doesn't even collect dolls. I am the one who is the addicted-collector. *G* She is a fashion designer for women's clothing and I was just trying to talk her in to making some smaller-sized fashions.
As well as making fashions and jewelry for 11 1/2" dolls, it is me that has started repainting and re-rooting hair and eyelashes, etc. I have many dolls "on the go" right now, yet none completely finished. Hopefully soon, I'll have pictures up that I can share with the group.
I buy the majority of my dolls online in e-Bay (both new and used) and through dealers, as well as purchasing some here locally (again, both new and second-hand).
The Gene dolls have gone down a bit in price (in e-Bay) but probably only because there are so many available. I don't think the new bending vrs. older non-bending dolls make a difference for repainters or collectors... both would just buy what they are looking for I imagine.
A lot of sellers offer new NUDE Gene (and other) dolls and their fashions/accessories are removed at auction end and sold separately. These are often the ones that the customizers would buy, since they usually won't be using the fashion anyhow...and someone wanting a particular fashion doesn't have to pay the full price had they been buying the entire NRFB doll. It is profitable for the sellers as well, as they end up making more money with the two auctions.
