Me again, I hate to be a pest but I wanted to mention that my total boxed collection of Barbie and Candi and other fashion dolls are not completely figures in the the amount of dolls I previously mentioned. I am not a deboxer (I take just a few out) so all these new shelves are lined with all my boxed dolls also.
Here is a good idea for anyone wanting to put shelves up. The shelf goes up and they you get a piece of wood about 1-1/2" on the top and about 5" long. They come in 12' lengths. I put them in the back of the shelf and it becomes a "riser" allowing you to have an extra "layer" of dolls. So you can put boxes/dolls on the top shelf which would be the "riser" and then more dolls on the shelf - now you will have two "layers" - it has to be adjusted so that you can put a doll on the shelf and still be able to see the dolls on the riser. In front of them I am putting my de-boxed dolls so you sort of have 3 layers.

yep, I use risers too, they are anything from bits of stryofoam, to wood to small, upside down Pringles potatoe chip cans for individual dolls. I take the lid of these cans & set the kaiser doll stand inside them which gives a lip & I can place matching doll shoes or purses or what ever on these so the entire outfit that's on the doll can be kept together & not fall on the floor which might happen if you just set something next to the doll stand. Hi Pat,
I also used to use empty porcelain doll boxes when I had them but your "lid" idea is great!! I never thought of displaying anything like purses, etc. with my dolls. Thanks for that idea.
