Hi, all! Have you seen the previews of the 2003 Barbie line? Check out www.barbiecollectibles.com. Alice & the Mad Hatter are too cute... Melissa
Hi. I had an incredible find: a brunette bubble cut barbie in somewhat good condition for $2.00. Her arms and legs are perfect; has all the nail polish intact on her hands; none on her toes. Hair is perfect; facial paint good; hair perfect; no green ear.
Problems: she has a chip out of her nose...is this fixable by a doll artist? Left breast is slightly "caved in".
She came with a vintage barbie wedding dress..appears in good condition...some mending necessary but not "trashed". Also a poodle parade jacket, slightly faded.
Thaks,
June

*********************************** Reflections, January 2002 "Cycles" *********************************** All things begin, therefore all things must end. To every opening, there is a closing.
To every ending, a new beginning: A cycle of pain; a cycle of growth; and finally, a cycle of healing.
For every lesson learned, a painful mistake in memory.
Allows cycles to conclude, but do not be stuck in one. To be stuck in a cycle is to never learn, never change your behavioral patterns.
To heal, one must allow the healing cycle to take place: change, forgive, and grow.
The life cycle: birth, life, death, resurrection.
The work cycle: education, training, new job, job ends, new opportunity found.
Despite the couple of flaws that sounds like a damn fantastic find!! I'm sure a doll artist/doll hospital place would be able to fix the nose and breast.

Hi June, Great find! Definetely worth the $2.00! Yes, there are people who can fix the nose nips. It is one of those things I have never learned to do, but there are people who do great work. Ask on Vicky's board and I am sure there is someone there who can be of help. I found a bubble a few weeks ago for $2.00 too, but she needed A LOT more work. I had to repaint, clean and reset the hair, and get her a new body, but she needed me! LOL
I did want to share my latest find. I picked up this lovely number 3 at an estate sale last week for $100.00 I never thought to own one of these, and I am just thrilled with her. I sit and stare at her, and when I am bored with that I take a whiff! ( for those of you who don't know 1,2s and 3s smell like crayons!) She is dressed in a kimono that a great friend got for me.

I also looked at the 2003 line, and there was not a lot there that I am crazy about. Loved the Alice in Wonderland set, and will for sure get those. I did really like the fashion model case. Kind of nice to see an adult case. Was not crazy about the Ken in the 007 set. Did like the outrageous dress on the Mackie. Most of the rest don't do one thing or another for me. Kinda like the AA dolls of the world princess, but it bothers me that she has bare feet in the high heel pose. Would have been nice to see the skipper leg mold that has those nice dainty flatter feet. Oh well, more money for Candis!

Hi, Kathy! Great find for you! Although, I'm not a vintage person, I think you did great... I just LOVE the kimono. Finally one the right length. Mattel always makes them too short!
I, too, am looking forward to what Integrity has to offer for 2003. I've already got a long list of stuff coming from this year's lot... Melissa

Hi Kathy
Your #3 looks lovely and that kimono really suits her too! I just don't have a good knowledge on the vintage or mod dolls to be confident to buy any and know I've got a good deal, plus I don't know how to re-root or anything like that so I stick to the modern stuff. LOL.
That is a good point about the S African doll. I didn't even think of that. But I still like her and want to get her. But not much else from the 2003 line has grabbed me so yeah, we'll both just have extra bucks for more Candis which I'm sure is gonna be soooo stunning in 2003 too!

Hi Melissa
I've seen the preview pics...what do you think of them overall? I have to admit nothing much really, really grabs me. Some of the dresses are gorgeous but the actual dolls just I dunno, seem a bit plainish. I love Capucine silkstone and the #6 lingerie though and I love the Princess of South Africa too. These are 3 I will probably get - wonder what the 2003 Candis gonna offer us! LOL

Hi, Lunar! I'm not into the Silkstones at all or vintage repros or big ball gowns sooooo looks like the Portugese & South African Princesses & the Tommy & Kelly Set will probably do for me. Have to wait & see James Bond Set... Melissa

I love the silkstones I have to admit! LOL. I like the dress on Red Hot dolls but just not the dolls! LOL. Many people seem disappointed in the Mackie doll. I guess we'll both be saving a few bucks as there aren't much there that we really, really want! Whether these dolls will look as good as the promo pics is another matter too!

Look at www.barbiecollectibles.com in the 2003 previews. There is a set of Barbie & Ken as 007. I also heard on www.mfd.net that there will be a Pierce Brosnan doll from the new Bond movie made by Sideshow toys, but no pictures yet. Melissa
