Hi all, Just wanted to share. I found a vintage Babs dress yesterday at a thrift store. I got Fancy Free ( the little red and blue sun dress ) for $2.50. I also found a cute sweater for me for $2.00. And then it hit me. No matter what I spend, I spend more on doll clothes than on me! Anybody else spend more on doll clothes than on themselves? Everyone! LOL

I have done that, but no more, I decided I should come before the doll. I have friends tho, who if all the money was added up that each spent on vintage Barbie & her clothes , would easily be in the thousands & definetly more than they'd buy for themselves. I have a hard time anymore, paying over $100 for a doll . I did find some Barbie vintage clothes at our thrift store recently ...but they were the usual dresses you see & not in good shape...someone really loved those clothes & played with them to death. About once a year I find a real deal like this at my thrift store. I've found an Allen, a Francie, a Tootie, a ponytail Barbie but with most of the hair gone but otherwise good condition...but finds like these are rare & far between. Pat H.
Good finds ARE rare and far between! I used to find such great things at the thrift shops...
Now it seems that if the people who work there don't grab them up first, second-hand dealers do as soon as the price-tag is placed on them!!
That's one of the reasons I stopped collecting vintage and only concentrate on the more new, (and what I really love and want to put on display and look at).

Me!
But I live and work on a farm so it's not hard to do when your wardrobe is all jeans and tee shirts.
I'm not a new member, just haven't posted in years. I was on the Candi list before this one. I can remember the good old days when Paul David was wall-to-wall with Candis.
Has anyone purchased the Holiday Toast Candis? Any reviews? Saw pictures on ebay and am thinking about ordering a Candi for the first time in years - although Candi is by far my most collected doll.

Heya Sisu, Yes I just got the two Holiday Toasts, the Hispanic and the Asian. Simply divine! The Asian is my favorite with that short cropped hair, porcelain skin(not sure this has been used before? Suzanne or others, correct me if I'm wrong) , the result is so striking. I have her redressed in the Femmee Fatale fashion and i just love her! This hispanic girl has it going on!!! So sexy in the darker skin, very different and a welcome edition to my collection. The fashion is made of a beautiful, raw silk material (they didn't skimp)in deep red, fully lined, great quality as the International Candis, nice real jewelery(not plastic) and the pantyhose is very well finished. The best part is the wine bottle and flutes! Even comes with matching christmas card and wine gift box!!! So much detail!! I am waiting on the other two, will review when I recieve 'em. Highly reconmmended though. This and the International line IMHO are the best Candi collections ever produced. Anyone else got the dolls? What do you think? hope this helps;o) Rene --- sisupygmies sisupygmies@yahoo.com wrote:

Hi Rene
I've had my eye on the Asian Toast Candi (sorry I tend to abbreviate sometimes...LOL). When I got my first Candi recently, being the International AA I was just awed at the quality - even the packaging. I mean considering her very reasonable price and all. You don't get near as good quality for a Barbie in the same price range IMO. I just love the funky look of this AA doll with her luscious chocolate coloured skin and cropped, blonde hair. She reminds me of the Indigo Obsession doll but so much more affordable. I look forward to seeing what will be coming out next year in the line.

Thanks for the review Rene. When I saw pictures of the actual Toasts on ebay, I thought the dress looked nice but if they were the construction of Park Ave. - I'll pass. It appears Integrity is doing a much better job with the Candi fashions? Although how much worse can you get - sorry for being so negative but it's the truth?

Don't think I'll order Swedish or Danish, those bared teeth remind me too much of Barbie and my dogs when they are unhappy. Glad the Asian is nice, I have the first Beach Jade and she is one of my favorite dolls but she looks 17sh. Toast is definately looking like a grown woman. Does Asian Toast have the big-head-look like earlier Candis?

Hispanic Candi has always been my favorite!

Sisu, That's why I only buy Integrity's Candis, the clothing is so much better. Actually the quality is high, VERY high for these garments especially for the price. I would almost compare it with the Tyler/and fashion model fashion quality...yes, it's THAT good! Highly reconmmended. What do ya'll thinkof the quality of Integrity Candis, agree?
