Installation on Cygwin

Dear GPC-colleagues I am new to this list, and maybe putting a question already answered several times. On my Win32 XP, I installed a fresh Cygwin (1.5.5-1), and downloaded GPC - binaries for it (gpc-2.1-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.gz) . Those were installed as found in http://www.gnu-pascal.de/gpc/Binary-Distributions.html#Binary%20Distributio… (basically unzippen and untarring...) Now I find a /cygnus directory in my cygwin root. However, gpc seems not to be found as executable, nor does it work. Can somebody help me? My aim is to move certain Sun Pascal files (now in Solaris) to cygwin. Are there hints which I should take account of once my compiler is up and running? Thanks a lot Paul

Thanks for the help in installing GPC for my new CYGWIN configuration. It seems to work now. I want to transfer several pascal programs from a Sun machine (Solaris 7, compiled with Sun Pascal), to GPC. Could anybody help me e.g. by showing the code to catch some of my cygwin (bash) environment-variables: e.g. 'PWD', 'HOME', 'TERM', ... How do I ask a 'system call' to be executed from within a GPC program? E.g. assume I want to make a 'ls' of some directory, and to see if there is a file called 'testfile'. Thanks for your help. GPC for ARM7tdmi (MMU-less)

Hi All! Could anyone please help me to gain an understanding on subject. The situation is as follows: I built from the sources GCC 3.2.3, 3.3.2, 2.95.2 and 2.95.3 with GPC (I tried versions of GPC 20020510 and 20030830). As it is written in documentation, to make program work on ARM without MMU, it's necessary to use compiler switch -mno-got (ot mno-gotplt) but this option is available only for CRIS architecture, not for ARM. AFAIK the sequence of steps to build some Pascal program for ARM without MMU is (at least, I acted in this way): 1. configure GCC sources together with GPC with switches --enable-languages=all --target=arm-elf 2. build the whole toolchain 3. build target program for ARM (using option -mno-gotplt (or -mno-got)) 3. make flat executable file for ARM using elf2flt utility Anyway, the compiler tells me that 'no-got' is an unknown option. Is anyone experienced in the subject? Another problem which I was having during building cross compiler GPC for ARM (GCC of version 3.2.3, GPC of version 20030830, Red Hat Linux 9, kernel 2.4.20, binutils of version 2.14, host i686): I didn't manage to build it all together for the first time. It showed me some error (unfortunatly, don't remember now) I was forced to do like this: 1. configure, build and install gcc with configuration --target=arm-elf 2. configure, build and install gcc with configuration --enable-languages=pascal --target=arm-elf 3. configure, build and install gcc with configuration --enable-languages=all --target=arm-elf I'll be very grateful for any ideas. spam on gpc list :-(

Hello, the spammers have eventually found out how to post to the gpc list. As far as I can see, two spams made it here: Subject "Would Like to Advertise on Your Site" (12/03) Subject "NEEDED YOUR KIND ATTENTION" (12/04) Currently, non-subscribers can post to the gpc list if they reply "accept" to an automated message. Apparently, the spammers have found out how to use this. I see no other option than allowing only postings from list members in the future (*). Any other opinions? I am going to leave the separate gpc-announce list in its current mode, i.e. nobody can post directly to gpc-announce, but everybody can confirm their own posting. If spammers start misusing that, we will have to change those settings, too, so that only members of gpc-announce will be allowed to confirm their posting. (*) People with multiple addresses can still subscribe their extra addresses in "nomail" mode, so postings from those addresses will be accepted as members': If your spare address is foo@bar, email <majordomo(a)gnu.de> with the following message body: subscribe-set gpc nomail foo@bar Best wishes, Anja (who wonders how long it will take until spammers start automated subscriptions to various mailing lists)

gpc-20030830 and packed records

string in modules

Hi, I put a string in a module's interface. When I assign it in my main program, the string is always empty. I use this string to share information within some files. I've already read such a bug in the mailing list. module without implementation

Hi, I apply the patch you have made. So now, the init_XXX symbol appears only for modules which have implementation part. For the modules which don't have implementation part, the init_XXX symbole doesn't appear. Actually, when import clause is called, the init_XXX symbol is generated. Is it possible to generate the init_XXX symbol for all the types of modules(with or without implementation part)? thanks

link problem

When I compile my module. First of all, I generate the interface with --interface-only flag. Then I generate implementation with --implementation-only flag. This way seems to be wrong. Actually, When I use this way, no Init_ModuleName symbol appears. PDCurses for Cygwin

I tried to install PDCurses for my Cygwin set-up. I think compilation of PDCurses sources was succesful. At least, after compilation, I am getting a whole list of *.o files in my installation directory, which I named PDCurses, inside my $HOME However, upon including uses CRT; in a Pascal program, and running gpc --automake ... I still get the same long list of error messages, starting in the beginning with a message that a file 'curses.h' is not found. In fact, I was looking for this file in my newly built PDCurses folder, but there it isn't neither. I find however a file called pdcurses.a in there (besides many others). Can anyone help me in telling where I should put things up, so that gpc will find what is needed to work with CRT? Greatly grateful! Paul
