Compiling and linking Gnu-Pascal under Fedora 11 on x86_64 hardware.

Greetings, I had to upgrade my hardware from i686 to x86_64 and my operating system from Fedora Core 4 to Fedora Core 11. I have tried to install Gnu-Pascal by downloading several versions from the Gnu-Pascal homepage and all attempts fail Every attempt to use make terminated in errors as follows: -- . . . make[2]: *** [32/libgcc_s_32.so] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/gpcbuild/gcc' make[1]: *** [libgcc.a] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/gpcbuild/gcc' make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2 fail. -- I downloaded the install.gpc script and that didn't work either. I have put a new gpc snapshot at: http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/gpc-20060325.tar.bz2 Main change is preliminary gcc-4.0.x support. The other changes are rather small. Note that for "production use" 3.4.x and 3.3.x backend are prefered. Also, using 2.8.1, 2.95.3 and 3.2.3 backend should work, but is depreciated. Hallo, I am trying to install GPC (gpc-20060325, based on gcc-core-3.4.4) on a PC with Intel-Xeon 64 bit CPU and openSUSE 11.2. Make ends up with some mystical error lines, see below. Maurice, merci pour votre reponse After installing /usr/include/gnu/stubs-32.h, which was missing on my machine, the 'last words' of make changed when installing gpc-20060325 based on gcc-core-3.4.4, see below. It probably did not help. Then I tried various GPC/GCC combinations and found a nearly working one: gpc-20070904 (the Hebisch edition, as you wrote) based on gcc-4.1.2, which is said to be not a recommended gcc candidate, but it works. Running gpc gives in the beginning this message: 'usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/gnu/lib/libgcc_s.so when searching for -lgcc_s'. My final feeling is walking at night through a black forrest when installing GPC. I want to make minimal use of GPC extensions, thats why I didn't use the GPC byte for eight_bits or didn't use packed on subranges. I'd prefer to use packed file of eightbits instead, but GPC ignores packed for files. And then I'd like to use buffered output without changing the source file! Greetings, Wolfgang

how to write inline-assembly in gpc?

Kubuntu AMD-64 Linux: WHAT no graphics?

I installed gpc and all required or recommended packages using aptitude. The manual apparently contains no mention of graphics output. But that's why I downloaded Pascal in the first place! Looking through the mailing list archives, I find mention of a GRX library. But when I do a search for "grx" within aptitude, I come up empty. All I want to do is create a 432 pixel x 378 pixel image with over 2000 different 24-bit colors, all in a very precise pattern, a fractal shape as a matter of fact. In the time it is taking me to find any programming language that will let me do this, I suppose I could do it manually with a graphics editor, although this would be somewhat tedious. I can create a 432x378 array of strings, where each string is the hexadecimal code for a 24-bit color. How can I turn this array into an image? Does anyone know of a programming language which DOES do graphics? Thanks for your patience. David Bush
