L.S. This is to report a problem on the HPUX-10.20 port of GNU-Pascal. (made here locally, which went flawless) The gpc version is: egcs-2.91.57 19980901 (egcs-1.1 release) The offending program is: PROGRAM p(Input,Output); VAR fin : text; BEGIN reset(fin,'file.txt'); writeln('reset done') END. And the runtime error is (with and without an existing file 'file.txt') : internal error: _p_initfdr has not been called for file (#914) On Linux (debian 2.1) there is no problem with this program. The question of course is, does this ring a bell? If not I'll have to create a debugable version of the runtime system and start using gdb, but I would like to avoid that, hence the question:). What do you want to have fixed/implemented in gpc-2.1?

Hello, folks! We are approaching a version of GPC that will (a) compile with gcc-2.95.x and (b) only need minimal patches to the GCC backend. With the next version of the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), we want to publish the long-expected gpc-2.1 as a fully integrated frontend. We expect this next GCC release (2.9x or 3.0) to happen within the next two months or so. It is not realistic to fix all bugs and to implement all wanted features listed in the GPC TODO list (http://fjf.gnu.de/gpc-todo_toc.html) within this time schedule. However, most of the bugs listed there are not really relevant to real-world praxis. So we are planning to re-sort the TODO list and to focus on the most important bugs and feature requests. Please tell us which bugs and/or missing features on the TODO list, section "Urgent", you consider the most urgent. And of course, your help to fix those bugs is welcome. Installation problems?

Hi, folks, I hope someone can help me out. I haven't been able to compile any Pascal programs yet using DJGPP on Windows 95. I installed DJGPP a little while ago, and I can easily compile and run C programs (with gcc) and C++ programs (with gxx). I can still do that after installing GNU Pascal. However, I cannot even compile a simple Hello World program using gpc. Here is the program listing for hello.pas. I installed DJGPP v2.95. Doesn't GPC assume that we have v2.81 installed? In my directory tree, I have D:\djgpp\lib\gcc-lib\djgpp. Before installing GPC, all I had in this directory was a directory called 2.95, which had files such as libgcc.a, specs, cc1.exe, and cpp.exe, along with the "include" directory containing files such as new and new.h. After installing GPC, I had a 2.81 directory along with the 2.95 directory. Inside here, I had gpc1.exe, gpc-cpp.exe, libgpc.a, specs, and a units directory which contained files such as crt.inc, crt.pas, gpc.pas, and gmp.pas. (Aren't these the things that are required in the USES statement in the program?) Also, to "install" GPC, all I did was (properly) decompress a _binary_ of it (preserving the directory structure). The file was called gpc-19990430-i386-pc-djgppv202.zip. Thank you all very much. Any help would be appreciated. -- Get paid to surf the web! If it's only the GMP programs: which version of the GMP library do you have the installed -- the binary from Agnes, or one from your distribution. In the latter case, which version number is it (try `rpm -qf /usr/lib/libgmp.a', or the packet descriptions)? What happens if you run power with some command line arguments? CORE DUMPED - GPC

Hi all , I have installed the binary files in my linux/pentium machine and I have compiled the examples power.pas and factorial.pas from the gpc distribution demo directory successfuly. % gpc --automake -o power power.pas (LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-red-hat-linux/egcs-2.91.66) But when I tried to run it generates a core % power core dumped What is happening? What should I do in order to fix that problem? I just tried to build a Linux->FreeBSD cross compiler this way, but it fails because of lack of files libgcc1.a and crt1.o. Are these files available somewhere, or do you have them handy? I report about probrem of 'gpc-19990118' that I found in installation to the system based on FreeBSD, and how I had solved it. Mingw32 installationproblem

hello, I am Sorry to bother you with this probable trivial problem, but I can't =get any further here. I installed the file gpc-19990118-egcs-1_1_1_i386-pc-mingw32.zip, wich =rather looks like the one I need for Mingw32 - egcs. And guess what?
