I've just started using GNU Pascal to port some legacy code across to Windows95/NT. I'm using DJGPP with the 19990118 beta copy of GPC. Everything appears to be working fine until I get to the linking stage. I'm getting unresolved references to Pascal procedures declared externally. I suspect I must be getting something fairly basic wrong, but I can't even get an example from the GPC documentation to build successfully! Suggestions would be gratefully received. It usually works, but it can cause compiler errors in some situations. In general, it can't handle well those things that don't exist in C, i.e. it might produce wrong debugging info or compiler errors. Any volunteers who know about the internals of debugging info? (I don't.) Meanwhile you could try "Writeln debugging", i.e. insert some Writeln's here and there to pin down the instruction that's wrong. BTW, the results are correct under Linux, so it really seems to be something system-specific. Bug in the arithmetics

Muchachos! The attached code compiles and runs on the attached sample input file but the result is incorrect. (Under IRIX 6.2, latest beta source.) The program supposed to calculate vector distance in a multi dimensional space. The same code is working fine with the 2.0 version on the same input file. Cheers, miklos

Hi Folks, the debug-option (-g) of the latest beta-kit is broken under IRIX 6.2. It is not able to produce binaries. Cheers, miklos

But I recommand to get gpc-19990118 from ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/beta/ instead. It works with gcc-2.8.1 or egcs-1.1.1 and is more stable than gpc-2.0 anyway. GPC newsgroup and announce list?

Hi, folks! A long time ago we already had discussed about this, but let us try it again ... It seems as if people looking for help with GPC do not find this mailing list, and even if they do, they might not want to subscribe but would prefer to have a look at us first. Other people would like to stay up-to-date with information about GPC but are not interesting in our discussions. So what about following the example of the DJGPP folks and do the following: * Create a Usenet newsgroup `comp.lang.pascal.gnu'. * Gate all emails to the GPC mailing list to the newsgroup and vice versa. * Create an additional, moderated mailing list especially for GPC announcements. This could be combined with a move of the GPC mailing list to a host which runs a list server software (majordomo) which would simplify subscribing and unsubscribung to the mailing list, allow for an automatic online list archive, etc. (I have one with the nice domain name `gnu.de'.:-) What do you think? We also would be glad if someone familiar with Usenet management (RfD, CfV, etc.) and/or setting up a mail/news gateway could take that job. Works fine under Linux, as far as I can tell, but is missing some error handling (e.g. given an invalid zip file name, it says "-12 files processed"). Crashes with Bus error under Solaris when trying to access a zip file. I suppose it's an endianness problem with the file contents. You might want to look at the "Routines to handle endianness" in gpc.pas.
