GNU Pascal

Dear GNU Pascal development team, I wonder if you could please answer a couple of quick questions for me. I have been using Borland TPW1.5 and have many thousands of line of Pascal code , some for the WinCrt unit but mainly have used WObjects,WinTypes, WinProcs,Strings & BWCC units in combination with OOP programming and resources defined in the resource workshop. I will be switching to Linux before the end of the year and departing the Windows platform forever. GNU Pascal looks like it will be the perfect replacement for TPW1.5 and still mean I can retain the same(or similar) code. If I compile my programs in GNU Pascal will they work directly (i.e does GNU Pascal convert all the calls to XWindows calls) or will they have to be run via the Linux filter Wine ? The other possibility is how easy would it be to convert my current programs to Linux/Xwindows programs making use of your Linux libraries ? Thankyou for your help, I have only found out about GNU Pascal today and am very pleased that someone is producing such a language & compiler. Best Regards Kevin Rees

Since about 5 years I try to compile lex for extended pascal with gpc. However, I still don't succeed. This program is a real test case I assume :-) Here the latest error, boiled down to the most minimal code: ------------------------ program Test; type string255=string(255); function Test(filename, ext : String): string255; label 1,2; begin Test := ''; goto 1; goto 2; 2: Test := filename+'.'; 1: ; end; begin end. ------------------------ Groetjes, Berend.

What is the correct way to stat a file system in BSD? Is it statfs() or statvfs() or something else, and which header does it need (if any). GPC-19990118 - bug in cpp ?

Hello fellow pascalers! I have a problem with egcs-1.1.1 (egcs-2.91.60 19981201) and gpc-19990118 on Sun Solaris 2.6. Basically the #ifdef and #if defined() preprocessor stuff seems broken. The following code illustrates the problem: -------cut-------- program cpptest(input,output); begin #ifdef __GPC__ writeln('#ifdef __GPC__'); #endif #if defined (__GPC__) writeln('defined (__GPC__)'); #endif end. ------cut---------- When this is compiled with gpc -o test test.p (!) and you run it you get the following output on Sun Solaris: #ifdef __GPC__ On Linux and Digital UNIX (same compiler combination) you get: #ifdef __GPC__ defined (__GPC__) which is of course correct. Note that using the -v switch indicates that the compile is setting -D__GPC__=2 on all systems. Am I doing something hopelessly stupid or is this a bug ? Thanks for all your help.
