When it comes to compability on the issue of strings, would'nt it be natural to call the short string version just "string" and the long one "longstr", instead of the other way around?
This means Programs originally made for Borland will run just fine, (since borland (and i belive) the rest) have 255 byte strings) and will compile more like they where intended to do.
Seems logical to me :)
