Hi, I found 1 Global Peace Alysa at Walmart for $6.97 and she came home with me. I did see last year's Jordan, and last year's Alysa. I haven't found anything in Kmart except for the Heat Wave Janay. Maybe I need to go and take another look see. :) Phyllis in VA

Hi, all! I just received my Fifth Avenue Fortuny Candi from Paul David & she is a BEAUTY! (Not quite like to original photo in Candi magazine, but stunning none the less.) Jason has done a great job on her... Even the new Charice face is kind of cute. I bought one of the Holiday Classics & I like her very much. Anyway, if you are interested in Candi, Paul David is having a sale. Fifth Avenue Fortuny is only $19.99!!!!! Even with the Fedex shipping, that is cheap. I also found some cute dolls at Rite-Aid for only $5 that have several outfits. For that price, it's worth it just for the outfits even if you don't like the doll... And, if you are interested in Jakks Pacific GIRL FORCE dolls, try picketfence3 on ebay. She has baggie versions with really long hair that would be great to dress up. And dolls4emma makes homemade outfit that will fit her. I can definitely recommend the latter; I've bought several from her already. Melissa in MD

Hello lovelies, Well, I have been going through my dollies. I need to thin them out but I am having a very hard time talking myself out of anything! I did decide that I could sell a duplicate Alysa doll. She is very cute! This is Heat Wave Alysa (my favorite Alysa as of yet) with her hair restyled. Her hair has been cut shoulder length. It's not a blunt cut, it's razor cut so it won't look like it's just been lopped off. It has just the slightest flip towards the end. For anything special it's usually easier to buy from the US because we can never be sure exactly what will turn up here or in what quantities. I am not doing much collecting these days - just enjoying what I have and slowly weeding through my vintage dolls to make more space. I got all my Gene's from the US but can now get stuff here through a friend who set up her own business. Candi I got from the US, way back when Lizie was solvent and then from Suzanne. Any Candi's I decided I didn't want sold like hotcakes here. Especially the old Mikelman baggies with the hair done up - that hair style alone guaranteed doll sales. People just didn't want to have to do the hair themselves. At least fashion doll collecting is acceptable now compared to when I started. People especially other doll people thought we were really wierd. Ah I remember the day I bought my first vintage Barbie ( which were very hard to find here in Brisbane cos there had been a bad flood in the'74 and most were washed or thrown away because of disease threats. I was nearly incoherent with joy - and butterflies in my stomach - I paid $30 Australian for a brunette Swirl! Way back in 1987 I think. Sorry for the long ramble! Hi All, I think Pat makes a valid point by asking what the "adult" collectors market consists of, because not all adults collect dolls that would be aimed at the adult collector. I think at it's most basic the dolls are not designed to be "played" with, but then how do you explain the adults ( like me) who love to "play" with our dolls by redressing, restyling, and displaying in different situations? Plenty of adults are happy with playline dolls to redress and play with as well. For me, I must admit it is a mix. I buy some of the playline dolls to "play" with ( loved the Jam'n'Glam dolls and had to get one to fiddle with that hair!),but in general I look for a more sophisticated style of doll. Most of the time Barbie at her MOST sophisticated doesn't measure up to the class of Candy. I think her general exoticness ( in her case, much of it based on ethnicity) makes her a classier looking doll. The repaints look more like real people, and less like a doll as well. I always get a kick out of the choices that I make as well. Sometimes I swear I am going to get a doll to "play" with, and then I find myself just displaying her in her original outfit. I thought the holiday toast asian doll would be that way, and here it is July, and she is still dressed for the party. Flores Rosada, on the other hand, even when I ordered her, was a complete package, and I have yet to redress her. Will be interesting to see how I do with the Feline Formality doll. LOL Sometimes I think the longerie type dolls are a real boon, because they are easy to decide to redress. My brunette silkie changes her clothes often. Well, I think that this Fashion Forward series represents Candi as a woman of high class, taste, and style. Certainly there are lots of pretty dolls out there, lots of things for different tastes but in my opinion not many dolls match up to these. Living in South Florida I am lucky enough to be around the wealthy and beautiful women, the super models, the famous people, etc. It is very rare that I see a doll that the hair, make-up, clothing, acessories all together represent (what I consider to be) impecible style. I think that Jason has done a remarkable job designing this collection of dolls. Then again, I know that a lot of people won't see what I do in these dolls. And, I would like to see if the quality of the clothing lives up to my expectations. How Ironic

Hi everyone, I had to write in about this one - just last week we were talking about clothes being "sewn on" and I said I had never heard of it. Well, in my last order from Paul David I received a "bag" of gowns and coats. Joyce at PD asked me if I wanted a "bag" and I said yes - it was only $2.50!!!! When I got them out of the bag there were three beautiful gowns, extremely full, one in gold, one in red and one in green. I also got 3 beautiful "velvet" evening Coats. When I went to try one of the gowns on I was so stunned to see that they were about 1 inch apart too small and the back wouldn't close. What I couldn't get over was that the tags inside said they were strickly for Candi. The gowns are so gorgeous I don't want to waste them so I guess I'll have to sew them on. Isn't that ironic?? Just talking about it and now I am going to try and do it! LOL I'll keep you posted on my new project, Karla
