Hi All,
I am just catching up now on all the new messages. My Husband took a week's vacation to "fix" my Barbie and Candi areas in my Family Room which is downstairs. I know I wrote a little bit about this last week. Anyway, we started last Sunday and I am still down there today - now that everything is out of the way but my dolls I actually got a good look at all the dolls I have and am beginning to think I am going crazy!!! My husband put up shelves on every wall - I have the sofa in the middle so it didn't take up any extra space and now I am concerned that I am still not going to have enough room. I have been collecting dolls for about 18 years and those were porcelain and a Barbie here and there although I grew up with Barbie. Then I made porcelains dolls for about 7 years and was starting to get into Candi. I have purchased a "gazillion" play dolls and I have fashion avenue outfits and other clothes sets that look like they are going to take up half the room. I have an extra room off the Family Room and I had all my things in there for when I made dolls - We had to clear out all that (what a nightmare) and now I am literally "stocking" the shelves in there with Candi and Barbie play dolls - the idea being that when this all came together I would then be able to play, LOL, dress the dolls in all these gorgeous outfits, etc. The room looks like a store just fully stocked!! I feel extremely overloaded. Please write and tell me that yes, people do collect as many as 1,800 dolls - either you or friends or anyone. Well, I am off to the doll rooms.
Thanks, Karla
Karla, Don't worry, people do collect alot of dolls. You are lucky in that you can display your collection and enjoy your dolls. The census bureau of my doll town closed shop after counting 300 dolls in 1995. The census folk shudder at the idea of being called back to active duty. Karla, Did you say 1,800? You meant 180, right? Well, your room sounds wonderful, and I know you will have a great time playing in there. Your husband sounds like a nice guy to do that for you. So many dolls, not enough time, lol. Have fun! Robin Karla towers@eticomm.net wrote:Hi All, I am just catching up now on all the new messages. I have at least 2 friends , maybe more, that have thousands of dolls...they collect all kinds including antique, to Barbie. One of these friends also collects just about everything else you can imagine...antique clothes , hats & jewelry, doilies. stuffed animals, perfume bottles, dishes, vases & the like,... paperdolls, paper valentines & greeting cards, esp. those with dolls on them & other paper stuff I can't remember now. I also have lots of dolls, hundreds of them , maybe over a thousand, never counted, also other doll related items such as doll furniture, doll houses, doll dishes, paperdolls, miniatures of all kinds Pat H.
Hi, Gang, I don't have 1,800 dolls, but only because of space restrictions. My daughter and I both collect and she lives at home. She is a Barbie girl, but I am more into differences; ethnic, age, size and whatever might interest me at the moment. I just paid $.70 for a used Mary Kate doll because I have a few outfits that are just a little small for Barbie. I buy Bratz and Diva doll clothes and dress my girls, mix and match, and I also make outfits and doll jewelry. Is your collection insured? My husband said either insure the girls or they had to go, and that is the only reason I know that we have 1,109 dolls between us. Our just having discovered Integrity and Candi last year has really boosted my interest right now, I love those different faces and hair colors and ethnic differences, Russian, Hispanic, Danish, etc. I can't wait for Aria and Nakia and Sookie. So, for the new kid out there, and I am still kinda new, have a ball. Collect what you like. Collections don't have to be all one thing or the other - this is your collection and you should be having fun with it.

Hi there, It is so nice to see someone that is as nuts about dolls as I am. I don't have a definite doll count, but I probably have at least 1000 dolls. This includes several different kinds of dolls. Some are porcelain, some are playline dolls like Lady LovelyLocks, Kiddles, etc... However, the majority of them are either Barbie or Candi dolls. I still have my very first Barbies from childhood, not in mint shape. Actually, I have all of them from childhood, except for the ones that I lost while playing with them. Candi is a great addition. I have been looking forward to the Adele & Veronique dolls. The new Integrity dolls are great. Variety is good for the soul:) I can't wait to get the new ones. Yeah!!!!!
A few months ago, we bought a new house. Thought I was going to have a whole room for my dolls. We love the house, two bedrooms and no children plenty of land. However, after we bought the house, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!! I am going to have a little boy. So much for the dollie room:) hahaha
Sher:)
You're having a baby? Congratulations! How wonderful. We love baby photos here as much as we love dolly photos. Whoo hoo! Robin "J. & S. I have to warn you about Integrity, Candi, etc. These dolls are HIGHLY addicting, LOL. I also love all the ethnic choices, the love the hair colors and think they all have gorgeous faces.

No, you are not going crazy, i have about that many dolls also. i once spend a week just trying to straighten out ONE closet full of Barbies! i also have shelves and display cases and yes, i also thought i was going crazy. i also thought i would have a lot of play time with the dolls, but since i have been sewing for collectors and dealers dolls, for 14yrs now, i have NO time for my own dolls! no matter what i do, i can't find enough display space, so you won't be alone if you feel you have a 'gazillion' dolls. i have two rooms full, including the closets, plus drawers , the bedroom and dining area. it's scary sometimes.

Hi Janet,
Thanks for your response. I feel so much better knowing you have dolls in all your "nooks and crannies",LOL! I am already concerned about filling up the new shelves. You have to find some time for play with your dolls, although sewing for dolls is still sort of playing.
