I'm really not spending any money on dolls BUT I have been holding on to a KB gift card since Christmas so I did get myself a new doll yesterday. I just bought the Shakira doll by Mattel. I don't know what possessed my to buy her ... exept I don't think I've ever seen a 10.99 Mattel doll dressed in black. She's kind of cute, I'm sure I'll play with her for a while and then pass her along to her next owner ... which is what I usually tend do with newer Barbies. LOL I do like her top though. I thought you all might want to see her:

Her eye-makeup is a little dark for my liking but I like her hair. What do you all think of her? Oh, and one more thing ... they've used molded on underwear on her, yuck! One of the reasons I liked the new style body so much is it was lacking that underwear.

If you want to do this one day with your Yue Sai Wa Wa, I'm sure she's interested in a trip to Switzerland! I would be glad to give her a new home. :-))

I never seen her before. Yes, the very best on her are the hairs. Wonderfull curly long hair and a pretty haircolor. The eye-makup is a little dark indeed. Me too, I hate molded underwear. To me, the decoration on her pants, seems a little bit too big.

Randall, I like her a lot, even the dark eye makeup. Love the dark clothes. She might make a wonderful villain in one of my dioramas. I hate molded underwear, too. Her head can be switched, right? I wonder why I've never seen her before. I think I'm gonna have to get this one.

Dear CandiChatters,
Randall's redress with the HTF Fashion Avenue piece made me think to ask this question: are there really older (1995, 1996, 1997) Fashion Avenues that are considered "collectible"? Which ones are they? I started to collect them from the beginning and have several I consider worthy of a collectible status, but I'm not aware that this is true in the real world of doll collecting. Please inform. Thanks, Pat Brown
Hi Pat, I know some of them can bring pretty good prices on Ebay. That pretty coat Randall has usually sells in the $20s, and there are a few that will bring even more according to some collectors. The FA site lists the ones that are hard to find. This site is a nice reference anyway.

Of course for me, there are so many that were or are hard to find. I never did manage a Mezzanine Mink fashion from the TRU coat collection a couple of years ago, but our TRU is so pathetic, it was a wonder I found any of them. Our new Super Walmart is better, and I have been able to find the new ones easier. My only problem with most of them right now is that E%$*%*%$ glitter. The stuff gets everywhere, and all you are trying to do is dress a doll. I have passed on several of the recent ones because I couldn't handle more glitter. My favorite of the last year is the denim one on this page.

The one with the pic of the #4 fashion model on it. I put it on my # 3 ponytail, and it was a hoot. I have been buying most of the ones with the pics of the Barbies on them. Wish they made those shirts in MY size. LOL

Wow, about the older F/A clothes being collectibles never occurred to me either & I have a coat like the one Randall showed . I think it came with boots & the hat & maybe a purse too. Thanks for all the pictures I love to see pictures. Pat Hawkins from Al.
Great reference website, Kathy! Thanks. I also have the Coat outfit like Randall & really like it on my dolls... Melissa

J ust varified my old order for 3 dolls of Jason's & 3 of the shoe paks with the cute champagne bottle & glasses in them Can't wait to receive them...also am ordering that Jason outfit with the red coat & black dress. love all the neat stuff I see with it...hope we don't have to wait too long for them to come in . Pat Hawkins
Thanks for the link. I did go and saw that I had 3 of the HTFs. I also saw one that I vividly remember driving me nuts to try and find, but never could. I wonder what decisions Mattel made to make these HTF ones? Anyway, I sure wish the ones I've got could make back the money I spend on all the others that are easy to find. I have the fringe coat that Randall has and recall thinking that it was a great fashion for the price. Still think it is.
